As in all Christian Science churches and societies around the world, Sunday services include a weekly Bible Lesson, comprised of citations from the King James version of the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy.
The service is conducted by Readers who are members of this church.
Join Us Wednesday at 12:15 PM or 7:30 PM
At Wednesday meetings, there is a time for sharing first-hand
accounts of Christian healing and remarks on Christian Science. These are
preceded by topical readings from the Bible and the Christian Science
textbook, which are related to community, careers and other timely issues.
The Wednesday lunch-time meeting is held at 12:15 PM at the Reading Room. The 7:30 PM
service is held at the Church.
Bring Your Children to the Sunday School at 10:00 AM.
Sunday School
In Sunday School, students can discuss ideas in the weekly Bible Lesson with people their own age and with an experienced teacher. Students learn how to use these ideas at school, in relationships, at work, anywhere. Children up to the age of twenty are welcome.

About Christian Science
Christian Science is an established denomination and a deeply committed Christian church whose theology rests upon the inspired teachings practiced by Christ Jesus and his disciples. First Church of Christ, Scientist, Westport is one of the many branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston. Mary Baker Eddy established The Mother Church in 1879. Her purpose was: "To organize a church designed to commemorate the words and works of our Master [Christ Jesus], which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing" (Church Manual).
You are always welcome at our services.
About First Church of Christ, Scientist, Westport
Recognizing the need for a Christian Science Church in Westport, a group of Christian Scientists began meeting informally during the early part of 1943. The first public service, including a Sunday School, was held July 4, 1943 in the Westport Inn. For six years services were held in various locations in town until 1949 when a new church was built.
As the membership grew, it became evident that a new church was needed. In the summer of 1977, a former Sunday School student presented to the membership his Master of Architecture thesis "A Christian Science Church for Westport" to be erected on the Compo Road site. Construction of the new church began in December 1979. During this time, services were held at Saugatuck Congregational Church. The cornerstone was laid on May 24, 1980, and the first service in this edifice was held on September 28 of the same year.
