Welcome to First Church of Christ, Scientist
Stamford, Connecticut USA!
Welcome to the website of First Church of Christ, Scientist, 655 Stillwater Road, Stamford,
Connecticut.
Stamford's Christian Science church is one of the worldwide branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ,
Scientist, in Boston Massachusetts.
Mary Baker Eddy
founded The Mother Church in 1879 "to commemorate the words and works of our Master,
which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing." (Manual
of the Mother Church, p.17)
Our Sunday Morning Services and Wednesday meeting are held in our Church Auditorium. Its modern design is quite simple, providing an atmosphere conducive to deep, spiritual thought.

Sunday Services 10:30am
![]() |
The Sunday service, as outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly, is conducted by two Readers elected from the membership. The Bible (King James Version) and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, are the only preachers; there is no ordained clergy. The Lesson-Sermon is from one of 26 subjects chosen by Mrs. Eddy, and is comprised of selections from the Bible and correlative passages from Science and Health. Students of Christian Science study the Lesson-Sermon daily during the preceding week. The church will begin holding services in Spanish for the first time on June 14 at 12:30 p.m. immediately following the service in English. The next two services in Spanish will be on June 28 and July 12, also at 12:30 pm. Future services will be announced following these introductory dates. |

Wednesday Meeting 7:30 pm
The midweek meeting commences with readings from the Bible and Science and Health prepared by the First Reader on topics of the Reader's choice. This flexibility allows each branch church to respond spiritually to the specific needs of its community.
Following the readings, those present are invited to share testimonies of Christian Science healing and remarks about Christian Science.
